Harmless Free Radicals is actually a collection of comics series, or books, originally started on July 31, 2000. The site that you are currently browsing hosts those comics that focus on life in Fairport, WA as well as some of the exploits of the Harmless Free Radicals themselves, one of the many bands that lives in Fairport.
Fairport is a place of character, with its own story and fate. Existing half-way between the Land of Dreams and the Canadian Border, its poor denizens have to put up with the shenanigans of mythical forces and bureaucrats alike. But new and interesting businesses still crop up with unerring regularity. Students from around the country continue to flock to Fairport Community College for a unique education and amazing party opportunities. The Order of Bearded Men still consumes all the regular coffee by Tuesday each week. And the barristas that love them still struggle with the eternal dilemma of ridiculing ignorant tourists while divesting them of their money. And when not assisting the Harmless Free Radicals in defending the town from villains such as Kote of the Drum People, the population of Fairport lives its life, almost like any other town in the world. Humorously.
Everything you may need to enjoy the stories of Fairport is contained in this current archive of comics. You need not go further than these pages, if you don't wish to. However...
There is an old set of half finished stories, written before the Summer of 2005. These stories tell of the birth of the Harmless Free Radicals, and some of their attempts at adventure. They contain many funny and surprising things, and you are invited to follow them. But they are for the truly intrepid fan, not daunted by yarns left unfinished. So, if you are one of these people, you may find these stories locked away in the old site structure. In fact, they contain the very first comic that Fenmere ever wrote.
On the other hand, those stories are in the process of being retold completely, beginning at a time much earlier than the first page, in the spring of 1989. Fenmere has just finished the first book in this series, called The Dragon & the Radical. It's a really good book, and you should read it!
Now, if you are really persistant and observant, you'll find other resources or references to the Harmless Free Radicals scattered about the nooks and crannies of the Grass Dog Studio website and the Internet proper. You'll know if you've found something canon if Fenmere, the Worm, himself wrote it.
