Little One

Another idea for another sequal to "The Life of Ink." It also fits into HarmlessFreeRadicals, and I also doubt that I'll complete it.

Little One v.s. the End of the World

(the story, as told by Little One, of how the son of the two raccoons in the Life of Ink tried to stop the destruction of the Vacant Lot)

How many times have I got to tell this story, Kid? Huh? Ah, well, so long as you're learning something from it, I suppose I oughta. Now you listen. Just because I'm a raccoon it don't mean I don't know how the world turns, hear? That's what this story's about! You think it's all fun and games, an adventure! You wanna hear how I stopped a bulldozer, huh! Well, I already told you it twenty times. This time I want you to get it. To get what it means. I suppose the day you stop asking me to tell this story is the day you get it what it means. All right, here you go. I tell you it again. Goes like this...

Synopsis:

Little One learns that the end of the Vacant Lot is coming. So he goes about trying to find a way to stop it. He thinks he can figure it out himself, and he doesn't want to listen to anybody. Eveybody else says he's crazy, and they do what they can to stop him from getting himself killed. They all got good advice that he doesn't listen to, such as "what you need this vacant lot for anyway? you learned how to take care of yourself in the city, and there are other vacant lots! just leave and let it go." Anyway, he ignores them and tries to stop the destruction. He mounts a nearly effective offensive against the human distruction crew, and barely gets away with his own skin. He witnesses the distruction of the woods, and the paving of the land. And then he goes through a whole series of ordeals that teach him that the advice he got was all good stuff. But he doesn't feel like he shoulda listened, because you know you gotta do what's in your heart. Even so, some things is inevitable. Now, not all stories go like this. If you try, sometimes you succeed at what you want. But when the world is going to end, it's going to end, and you might as well pick up and find somewhere else to live.

During the course of the story, a little more is reveiled about the mythos at large. Some more talk about Akailea, of course, and Jenifer as well. Also include some stuff about Jade Crow, Ghost Owl and Bone Jackdaw. Maybe just refer to them by their roles, the Guardian, the Hunter and the Story Teller. Meantion the Poet offhand as well, somehow.

How does Little One learn the end is coming?

Just who is he talking to? He's trying to get some idea accross, comparing his story to some greater theme, such as Bone Jackdaw's need to go through the hole in the sky. Does Little One's audience know about this, or do they have a similar problem that's smaller? What would that be?
