Official Press Release
(21 Jan 2009)

Fenmere, the Worm showcases his art:

Gretch Meuller's Combat Guide to Making Coffee
a play in comic form
Act 1, Scene 1

the Black Drop Coffee House
Bellingham, Washington
Feb 1 - Feb. 28

Jonathon Sodt, otherwise known as Fenmere, the Worm, showcases his art February at the Black Drop Coffeehouse. The art show will feature selected works from Harmless Free Radicals, Sodt's award winning comic that was a fixture in the Whatcom Independent newspaper. Art from new projects will also find a place in the Black Drop show, and may include sketches from comics that are still in development. This is a great opportunity to get a glimpse of what this local artist has planned next, especially since it marks the launch of Fenmere's new graphic novel, Gretch Meuller's Combat Guide to Making Coffee.

Sodt's style typifies the Bellingham spirit. His characters are instantly relatable, the lovingly rendered expressions conveying the range of human emotion in a simple organic style. Subdued excitement permeates the art, the touch of someone delighted by the process of creating. Come take a piece of this local color home with you in the month of February. Books chronicling Harmless Free Radicals will be available at the Black Drop counter, as well as postcards and prints.

Come by the Black Drop and grab a print to go with your latte! If you miss this one, don't worry; Fenmere hopes to have his art on display at a variety of popular locations around town in months to come.

About Harmless Free Radicals

Harmless Free Radicals began as an online comic, or webcomic, on July 31, 2000. Bellingham was first introduced to the comic when Sodt began publishing and distributing it on quarter page handbills around town in 2001. In 2005, the comic was picked up by the Whatcom Independent as their flagship feature strip, where it won first place in the Weekly Feature Comics division two years in a row at the Washington Press Association Awards. Since the closure of the Indy, Sodt has returned the comic to its serial origins, continuing online and telling the adventures of a group of friends who started a band on the basis that they came up with a good name. Sodt hopes to continue sharing his comic with Bellingham through a series of art shows, beginning with February at the Black Drop. He will also continue to collect the comics in books, which are currently available at Village Books or from his website, http://www.harmlessfreeradicals.com.

What's up on the Horizon?
(05 Dec 2006)

There's nothing imediate right now, however, the New Year is coming up and here're the things I intend to be involved in, roughly in order:

1. At least six personal art shows, if I can swing it.
2. The 2007 24 Hour Comics Day
3. a table at Emerald City Comic Con to sell books and posters and talk to people
4. Some sort of party for the Seventh Anniversary of HFR (July 31st, 2007)
5. The publishing and release of "Invasion of the B-Sides"
6. October, Bellingham Comics Month - B.S. of Comics Group Art Show
7. Portland's Small Publisher's Something-or-other Expo

I'm probably missing something, but these are the most important. I hope to be more organized in the next year, with a lot of my paperwork and funding prepared way ahead of time for many of these things. In fact, I may give myself the kind of deadline where if I don't have things all ready to go two months before the event, I'm not doing it.
