Progress
(15 Sep 2007)

My order of 8 books (4 Quad Shots & 4 B-Sides) from Lulu.com just shipped. I ordered them on the 7th of September, and they're going to arrive on the 21st. So that's 14 days turn around. I'm not complaining about that. It's better than other publishers out there!

I hope to order at least 4 copies of The Dragon & the Radical when it's done, and I hope to have them by BellCon2007, so I can sell them. To make sure I have those books in my hand on time, I essentially have to finish the comic by the end of the week.

I haven't been as productive as I'd like. So I now have 25 pages left to draw, ink and scan. Five pages a day for the next week... I should shoot for higher, so if I get more done earlier in the week, I'll do better later.

Back in Business!
(11 Sep 2007)

I've just finished inking six DandR pages! I'm now in the process of uploading them, and I'm halfway through penciling six more pages that I hope to finish inking by the end of Thursday.

I'm averaging three pages a day, which is technically fast enough but cutting it really close. I need to double my speed as soon as possible. Unfortunately, a lot of things do get in the way, such as production day at my day job...

But what this means is that whether or not I get the book done and printed in time for con, I can say with fair certainty that we will be seeing updated pages five days a week until the project is done! From here on out, you can count on it.

I'm feeling pretty damn good about myself right now. Oh, yes.

Long Enough!
(07 Sep 2007)

OK, my break is officially over. I've given my wrists and arm long enough to heal. I've got 36 more pages in The Dragon & the Radical to do, and I need to layout the book and get my first orders in on time to have it by October 13.

I'm out of time.

Time to crunch it.

We may be seeing pages updated on the site well past October 13, but if I'm good we'll see the book available long before then.

This is going to be interesting.

I think my arm is going to be screwed up again after this, too. I'll have to go easy on myself for a couple of months after that.

YAY!!! It's just like finals!

Weekend Antics
(24 Aug 2007)

This weekend, I'm going to an event called Warren War. It's a local SCA thing. Julie and I mostly go to hang out with friends, dress in garb, and run our camp. We're not terribly serious about it, or involved, but we have a lot of fun.

I'm planning on taking my cartooning with me. Traditionally, I don't have time or energy to cartoon at things like this, and with the threat of rain, I'll need to make sure its all in weather proofed containers (or left in the car over night). But I have a lot of stippling to do for Monday's Dragon & the Radical and it'd be cool to have some index cards handy just in case there's something worth an "I Can Draw Better Than This!"

In any case, today's my birthday. I'm 32, or something like that. If you need to give me anything to celebrate, I recommend drawing a comic (of any quality or style) and posting it to your own journal. Better yet, encourage a friend or relative to do so! If they don't have a blog or journal, post it for them. Feel free to comment here with links.

Oh, and go catch up on your favorite comics for inspiration.
